Ever heard the "Farmers Blues"?
Farmer John and cousin May
crop in the field and a roll in the hay
in the family thou shall stay
twelve fine kids that seem? okay
working hard most every day
whiskey stills and tooth decay
putrid piles of bills to pay
by grace of god we'll find a way
supper always served at four
half priced at the country store
holding closed the outhouse door
wide awake, that May can snore
country livin's quite a bore
barn don't hold the dance no more
wonder what the working's for
rusted plow and penny poor
bankers says the bills are past
chase him with a shotgun blast
city boys don't run so fast
out the gate he almost crashed
out of time for goodness sake
ties the noose with hands that shake
prays the lord his soul to take
and hopes like hell his neck will break
