Cable Curtain Rod
How do I mount a wire tension curtain rod/cable?

I have a 10 foot span in my apartment where I want to hang curtains as a room divider. Both walls are drywall, one has a metal sound barrier beneath it that is difficult (but not impossible) to drill into. Remember this is an apartment, so I want to be able to easily dismount and fill any holes. THANKS SO MUCH!
I would like to hang some sort of very light but strong steel cable in tension across the span. Both walls are drywall, but one side (the wall that I share with my neighbors) has a sound barrier of some sort, most likely metal, BENEATH the drywall. This can be drilled into and the drywall can be patched over it. It just makes it more difficult to place anchors or whatever.

10' is a long span, you'd have to use a pretty strong rod, such as a galvanized plumbing pipe (grey) or a gas line pipe (black).

If I were your landlord, I'd be angy that you drilled holes into the metal wall covering. How would you patch it to match? Is it painted?

You might think about suspending something from the ceiling instead.
