Faux Suede Window
cat pee ick! please help?
ok my cat keeps peeing on the same spot on the couch. i have even caught him squatting to pee. 1) how can i prevent this? i have rubbed his nose and "punished" him. the couch sit below a window where he tries "talking" with the alley cats in the neighborhood.
2) how can i get the smell out for good? i have tried fabreeze, pine sol lysol kitchen cleaner. the couch is brown faux suede.
ok the cat is male and he is fixed. he recently went to the vets (maybe 2 weeks ago) to have his ut checked and he was clean. they gave him an antibiotic for just incase. he eats food that support ut health. he has used the same litter for a few years now. i keep his box very clean. in the past pet stain and odor removers haven't worked . i will try again. and with adding more litter boxes i simple do not have room as i live in a very small space about the size of a camper trailer. an keeping him out of the window is like telling a dog they can never bark or run. but thank you for the suggestions.
LOL, NO animal ever learns not to pee or poop somewhere by you rubbing their noses in it. All it teaches is that you attack your pet for no reason. Only humans are stubborn enough to keep thinking that's a training aid. It doesn't work.
You need to get all the smell out of the fabric and cushions. Go to any pet supply store and get a pet enzyme cleaner, that's what you need. They carry several, and the stuff gets out anything organic (including grape jelly). The two things you mentioned are only going to cover up the surface problem, not get rid of it.
Once you treat the area and it's dry, put something non-absorbant over it for a while (plastic, covered with a towel) to stop the cat's learned behavior.
