How do I mount 2 eye-bolts into a brick wall for a fabric sun awning under tension ?
The awning is 12'X12' and made of heavy fabric. I am using turnbuckles to create a strong horizontal tension outward, so it's important it does not pull the bolts directly out of the brick. Any help would be Greatly Appreciated. Thank you for your time and knowledge !
As stated by zot things to watch for 1] how solid is the brickwork [2] the condition of the mortar, I'd think twice about fixing the awning under tension to any brickwork. If you get strong winds (wind gusts of 100 mph) this could easily turn the awning into a sail bring down any wall that's attached to it, if the wall is unsound.
I'd dyna bolt what we carpenters call a pitching plate to the wall (a length of treated pine) and then use eye screws as a fail safe, so the screw would pull out before any structural damage is done to the building
