Red Curtain Valances
What is your opinion of a red valance with yellow shears under it?
There is one large window in my kids playroom, the couches are red leather and I had a red valance made with yellow shear under. I choose yellow because I plan on finding yellow and gray throw pillows?? and panting the walls with those color combinations. There is wainscoting in this room. Either I am going to do gray in bottom of wall with yellow on top or two different shades of yellow?? Any suggestions people..I would appreciate it! I have someone installing my curtains as we speak, so don't know how the yellow shears is going to look under the red valance? I could always remove them if the yellow sheers don't look right.
Sounds like a bit too much vibrant color. I would put white sheers under the red valance, dark gray paint on the wainscoting with a lighter gray on the walls, and accent with yellow in pillows, throws, and other small accessories. Look for wall art in the three colors as well to pull the look together. To get an idea of how these colors would look together, bring home paint chips in all the colors, I think they would all look great together but in the correct balance. Think of the 60/30/10 rule. 60% of the first color, which in this instance would be the grays, 30% of the secondary color, red, and 10% of the accent color. The white would then provide unity and a calmness.
